Sullivan Commission on Diversity in the Healthcare Workforce

Client: The Sullivan Commission on Diversity in the Healthcare Workforce

Objective: Develop and communicate broad scale recommendations of a blue-ribbon panel to transform the healthcare workforce. Position the Commission's leadership on health professions diversity and lay the foundation for the release of its findings and recommendations.

Strategy: Developed a blueprint for the nation to make the health professions' workforce more diverse by drawing from the expertise and experience of the Commissioners, organizing six field hearings across the country to gather testimony, and examining existing health sciences literature. Executed comprehensive release strategy surrounding the Commission's report, targeting national, local, trade, and ethnic media, as well as policymakers and key stakeholders.

Result: Missing Persons: Minorities in the Health Professions--the Commission's report--elevated public awareness on the issue, positioned the Commission at the forefront of the national discussion on health workforce diversity and racial health disparities, and catalyzed a momentum for change at the national, state, and institutional levels.
